Highlights on our 2016-2017 calendar! 

Afro Blue will open for world-class jazz pianist and Howard University professor, Cyrus Chestnut at the Monty Alexander Jazz Festival in Chesapeake, MD over the Labor Day Weekend.

In October Afro Blue will appear with an all-star line-up at The Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York to participate in the  “Ella 100 Year Anniversary Celebration.”  November brings a collaborative concert with the Congressional Chorus featuring the music of DC composers.  Ellington’s Sacred Music will be featured as well as an original by Afro Blue’s founder/director Connaitre Miller and a new Afro Blue version of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Goin’ On?”

In December, Afro Blue will join the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra for the “Spirituality in Jazz” concert.  In February, Afro Blue will travel to Cleveland, OH to headline at a jazz choir Invitational at Cuyahoga Community College. 

April brings the release of a new Afro Blue CD as we celebrate our 15th Anniversary.  Release concerts are held throughout the month of April.
